Employing a qualitative approach, data were gathered through both online and offline fieldworkin Wajo and other regions in Indonesia and analyzed using a thematic approach. The findings reveal that the primary objective of the online halaqah was to accommodate students returning to their hometowns during the pandemic. Over time, however, it expanded to include a broader audience. Pesantren adapted its methods and duration to align with the online format, which has recently evolved into a parallel coverage of offline halaqah held at the pesantren. In conclusion, despite its limited impact, the online halaqah has contributed to maintaining religious education, embraced digital technology, and extended its benefits to a wider community
2024-12-08T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Al-Ulum https://www.journal.iaingorontalo.ac.id/index.php/au/article/view/6439 Early Detection of Mental Health Risk Indicators in Children Using Machine Learning Based on Teacher Questionnaires in Islamic Early Childhood Education in Gorontalo. 2025-05-30T05:36:38+00:00 Irmawati Duko Ishak irmawatiishak@umgo.ac.id Frangki Tupamahu irmawatiishak@umgo.ac.id Yurni Rahman irmawatiishak@umgo.ac.id
This study aims to identify indicators of mental health risk in early childhood through the development of a machine learning-based system and to analyze its implications for education. Mental health in early childhood is a crucial aspect that supports optimal development. Various internal and external factors influence the development of children's mental health. Early detection of risk indicators enables appropriate interventions to prevent more serious problems in the future. This research utilizes data collected from 100 randomly selected PIAUD (Islamic Early Childhood Education) teachers in Gorontalo Province. The K-Means Clustering algorithm is used to group the data and form target variables, while the Decision Tree algorithm is employed for classification. The results show that the Decision Tree model achieves an accuracy of 85% in predicting mental health risks in children. Indicators such as “Withdrawal,” “Easily Angered,” “Weight Change,” and “Eating Problems” are identified as key factors. This prediction system is expected to serve as a helpful tool for teachers and parents in conducting early detection and providing appropriate interventions.
2024-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Al-Ulum https://www.journal.iaingorontalo.ac.id/index.php/au/article/view/5314 When Law Touches Worship: A Study on Mosque Loudspeaker Regulations from the Perspective of Legal Sociology 2024-10-24T06:19:44+00:00 Kustana kustana@uinsgd.ac.id
This research examines the social dynamics and public reactions to mosque loudspeaker regulations in Indonesia, both on social media and in mosques in Bandung, West Java. The study is based on the Circular Letter of the Minister of Religious Affairs No. 1 of 2024, which outlines guidelines for the observance of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 H/2024 M, including rules on the use of mosque loudspeakers. Data were collected using a qualitative method through online observation and interviews with religious leaders and interfaith community members in Bandung, West Java. The findings reveal that many people on social media oppose the regulation, citing emotional concerns and fears that it may disrupt religious traditions. However, in reality, its implementation has garnered widespread support. Several mosques, such as Masjid Al-Hasanah, Masjid Kifayatul Akhyar, and Masjid Raya Bandung, back the policy to foster tolerance and maintain good interfaith relations. Even in predominantly Muslim areas, the regulation is seen as important for respecting the needs of residents who require peace, such as those resting, working, or ill. This research concludes that the implementation of the regulation should consider diverse social contexts and be sensitive to religious pluralism. This research-based paper departs from facts in the field using qualitative research analysis with a qualitative descriptive design. Data collection techniques are sourced from observation, interviews, and document review. These values are reflected in daily life, education systems, and teaching practices. Several factors influence the strong connection between moderation and pesantren traditions: (1) the close-knit relationships among community members—leaders, religious teachers, and students—who live together under one roof; (2) the students' obedience to their kyai and teachers, reflecting deep respect and belief in spiritual blessings; (3) a modest lifestyle characterized by simplicity, frugality, carefulness, and communal living; (4) the cultivation of independence in fulfilling duties, responsibilities, and daily needs; (5) a strong sense of togetherness, mutual assistance, and brotherhood.
2024-12-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Al-Ulum
